This is…kind of bad. I can’t find my tape of Dark Water episodes 1-4. Not Pirates of Dark Water, but Dark Water, the original 1991 episodes, with Roddy McDowall as Niddler’s voice actor and other different stuff. I’ve got DW 5 and PoDW 6-21 (and PoDW 1-5 in video format)…but…argh! It’s not in my room (as far as I can tell–I’ve looked everywhere where it seems like it should be or might be), it’s not in my parents’ room (where the VCR was), it’s not in the family room (where the VCR now is)…not good, not good at all! DWF’d like to see it so he can pull stuff from it for his DVD…watch it be right under my nose the whole time, but I don’t know if I can get him a copy, and I’d feel uncomfortable sending mine to someone I don’t know very well, or just letting it out of my sight period.

I haven’t watched it since moving back home, I don’t think…my tapes were here the whole time, even when I was on campus last semester. I really hope nobody taped over it on accident or something…usually they ask before taping over anything (and with our cable box setup now, we technically can’t tape anything, hence my not taping PoDW now that it’s back on TV), but…blah. I’d better ask them when they get home.

And yeah, I didn’t watch last week’s or today’s. I’ll definitely be getting up for “Betrayal” next week, though–one of my favorite episodes. *grins* “Noy Jitat, you overfed, porpulent son of a sea-mule…” “What are you doing under my gamehouse, you half-masted–” “Move, you rudderless, barnacle-brained–” Buuut anyway.

Wow–someone wrote a Niddler-Tula poem. And it’s pretty good! (Like he warned, though, if you aren’t open-minded about couples and stuff in the series, especially cross-species ones, I wouldn’t suggest that you go read it. But we all know that Niddler’s got a crush on Tula, so… ;o) )

*can’t help but think, you know a fandom’s flourishing when you see cross-species couples being speculated/written about…* O:o)

Hrm. I need to fix the coding on this so that more than just the first paragraph is justify-aligned…more of a note-to-self, sorry.

This is very distracting, but very fun. ;o) I lent my best friend my burned disc of PoDW episodes, because I offered to give her a ride somewhere because her car was in for repairs, and in return jokingly asked her to write me a PoDW fanfic, which she decided to do even though I ended up not having to give her a ride after all, so she needed a refresher. We work together, so I handed it to her this afternoon–and since there are 3 of us that work the late shift, she’s showing The Quest to the 3rd of us, who hasn’t seen it yet (blasphemy!). Our desks are in groups of 4 (think of a + sign, with desks in each corner), and hers is diagonally across from mine, and I’m working on a report due tomorrow morning, but I’m listening and mouthing words and hopping up from my chair and ducking over for especially good scenes. I think our 3rd coworker thinks I’m nuts. *grins*

Bleh, Dishonor’s on now…this won’t distract me, except for the rather convoluted swearing at the beginning… O:o)

(New update, as of Friday night. I’m stuck at work till 8 PM nightly, and it’s never busy Friday nights, so I made the best use of my time. O:o) )

So who else set their alarms for some ungodly hour and woke up to watch “The Quest” on Cartoon Network early this morning? My parents weren’t too happy about that–my dad is a light sleeper, and he woke up and noticed the light from the TV (especially since they use such bright and vivid imagery) and came down to have a look. ^^; Ah well, I certainly could’ve been doing worse things than watching PoDW at 4 AM, right? 😛

We’ve got a big-screen TV, and it’s been many years since I’ve watched PoDW on it–wow. Sooooo nice. It almost had the Lion King IMAX feel to it–with that, you could see the pencil lines, see how they subtly altered from cel to cel–and you could kind of see it on our TV, too. Not quite to that extent, but you definitely could see a lot more detail. It made it more interesting to watch.

And our VCR setup won’t let us tape them. :o( I’ll have to wait till “Victory” comes on and get my best friend to tape it for me starting from then (so I can have 4 episodes to a tape, without jumping around in the chronology between tapes–I’ve got some old un-subtitled VKLL Sailormoon SuperS tapes back from when I was a huge Sailormoon fan that have just been sitting there collecting dust, so I’m going to just tape over those).

Busy day ahead, better sign off now…

I have no idea who reads this, but I guess it’s worth a try, since I can’t update my site, since I only have access to the net via Mom’s work computer’s DSL connection (and she’s only allowed to install software related to work on it), since my dad wants to be the one to supervise networking our computers but he’s also being really lazy about going to pick up ethernet cables and a router. 😛

I hope anyone who reads this had a great holiday season. ;o) I’ve really enjoyed relaxing and doing nothing except watching lots of TVs and a few movies and generally slacking for the past 2 1/2 weeks (though that’ll end when I go back to school/work Monday *groan*)–I revamped 1 of my other sites and started a new one, and did a little work (or started to) on this site–typing up part of the D&D module World Book (for J.M.L., who requested it, and it seems like pretty handy and interesting background info to have up, too). When I get access on my computer I can do other stuff, too, like uploading the Sega Genesis ROM and emulator (thanks again, Nenko!) and adding new Unexplored and Registry submissions (Ian and Yae, respectively).

For everyone else who’s e-mailed me (Laura, Ty, Shawn, Leah, and Josh), I got your messages–mid-December was very hectic, because that was when final exams were ending and when I had to move out of my apartment and back home (I work every other semester, so it’s cheaper and more convenient to live at home). Since then, I’ve just been sort of limited in my online time, plus I’ve been really lazy and haven’t even been replying to my personal mail as of late–I only started catching up on it today. ^^; So I’m totally not ignoring any of you–well, I am, but not in the strictest sense of “ignoring.” I’ll definitely reply you all soon, maybe even today. :o)

And if you e-mail me, please PLEASE make sure to put PoDW or something like that in the subject–I get so much spam at that address now that I may accidentally delete your message if I don’t recognize your name and if you have an ambiguous subject line. Someone titled theirs “I need info,” and I actually almost did delete that one without reading it. ^^; Spam is so annoying…I don’t want to enlarge specific body parts, especially ones that girls typically don’t have, you know? ;o)

Also…does anybody know why that girl who wrote that one-part PoDW fic and put it up recently at FanFiction.net deleted her fic? Seriously, there needs to be more out there, not less… ^^; ;o) This is a really, really small and wavering fandom, not even really established at all. If anybody who sees this has written any kind of fanfic, PLEASE send it to me or put it up in one of the big fanfic archives! I personally would totally love to read it! And speaking of big fanfic archives–does anyone know if PoDW fanfic is anywhere else besides at FanFiction.net? What other general archives are out there?

And I think I want to redo this layout. I want it to be different than the main page still…I’m thinking something simple, with some nice contrast–lots of dark blue in the background, and white text, same as usual, but just really those two shades. I’m getting really tired of this particular one…my design style’s changing, I guess. *shrugs*

And does anyone who might see this have any suggestions for ways to expand the fandom? It’s not a community, it’s mostly people e-mailing me, or one or two who used to post at DarkWaterFan‘s board…I wish there were a place where people in general could discuss the show, like a central meeting point for all PoDW fans…I love talking to all of you, and I know there’s a pretty good number of you out there. You all should start talking to each other, too. ;o) I don’t want to be the only one pushing this forward–I know a lot of you love this show, so if you all could help push this forward–having a PoDW fandom/community would be excellent. That’s part of the point of the registry, to introduce fans to each other, but it’s not easy, since it’s an older and more buried show…

Okay, enough random musings for one post. Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. :o)
