DVD winners, Boomerang, and a bunch of links

Firstly, now that it’s finally settled: congratulations to Tony and Michelle, the TWO winners of the DVD contest!

Two, you say? It was a bit of a surprise to me, too. 🙂 It took a while to finalize everything, due to delays on WB’s side in terms of mailing me the DVD for the initial winner (Tony). When they did finally sent it, they sent me two copies. Since I already have my own, I chose another winner at random (Michelle) from among the complete entries. 🙂

A few things of note…

If you have Boomerang: PoDW is back on the air. A. Martin just wrote in yesterday (thank you!), saying that it’s listed in his cable guide as beginning TONIGHT at 10:30pm US Eastern/7:30pm US Pacific. I don’t have cable, so if you do, please do let us know if it does air!
[EDIT: 2010-11-02 10:30pm EST – it is indeed back on Boomerang. Thanks to Kaedyn for confirming the news!]

Also, Sergey has very kindly assembled torrents of both PoDW video game console music AND Russian subtitles for season 3 (episodes 14-21).

And here’s a list of torrents for the episodes in Portuguese, along with the Portuguese episode titles.

Here’s some really unique fan work: really cool 3D fanart of the Wraith by Bryan, and a custom painted PoDW-themed guitar by Tom in Wales. Excellent job, both of you–they really look great. 🙂

And Catalina has put up my scans of PoDW comic #1 on scribd.com, which actually makes them way easier to read. Great idea! (I’d put up #2-#9 myself if I had time…would anyone be up for doing it?)

Updates will be sparse for the next couple of months–it’s just that time in the semester. I’ve started up my personal blog again, so if you’re so inclined, you’re welcome to keep up with me through that. 🙂 The fall colors are vibrant and already fading here and the weather was below freezing this morning: autumn has arrived in Pittsburgh. Hope the rest of the year is pleasant for you all!

Bulgarian info

There is every chance that this could be outdated–I’m finally on the verge* of putting the site online, but all that remains is ironing out the issues with the WordPress template for the index blog, and actually putting up all the content updates. Maria Deninska very kindly sent me an e-mail in November that I’m only now putting up, and in it, she passed on the great news that PoDW is on the air in Bulgaria! (That would explain the large number of hits from Bulgaria that this site has gotten. I was really curious about that.)

PoDW is airing on the national channel, Kanal 1, during the JETIX animation programming block. There’s more info at the Bulgarian-language website for the TV channel. The series is on every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 AM, Eastern European time. However, I just checked it today and didn’t see the name listed. I’m not at all familiar with Bulgarian, though, so I could be mistaken.

Here’s an article on PoDW written for its 10th anniversary by Nenko Genov, a big fan in Bulgaria who I’m friends with and who’s sent some really good contributions for the site over the years.

* “on the verge” = “another 6 months from now”…sorry it’s taken so long! I’m the webmaster and graphic designer of my prefecture’s JET group, and I’ve had a lot on my plate lately

12000 hits to the main page since the end of June last year. Twelve thousand. And it’s only really picked up in the past couple of months–I’m now averaging over 100 hits a day to PoDW’s main page alone, which is just phenomenal for me. Just a few years ago I was thrilled by 15 or 20 hits a day for my entire Andorus’s Hideaway collective–this is incredible, in a seriously wonderful way.

And my bandwidth’s doing just fine; I’m coming up on 8 gigs at a steady but slow rate, so I’m okay for this month. It was totally the episodes that ate it all up. Must investigate the webserver thing after finals (I’m done May 1st at 11 AM officially, and then I have a week and a half off till summer classes–time off! A whole week!).

So The Ghost Pirates is on tomorrow night, and The Dagron Master is next week–unfortunately, next week’s the weekend before finals week. *groans* I haven’t seen TDM in a really, really long time…the copy I have is rather garbled in some places and not completely viewable…

Hrm. I think I need to center this layout, or something. All the space to the right’s kind of bothering me…oh, and I need to fix the alignment so that more than just the first paragraph justifies. (And done. Woo! I figured out how to get it working when I redesigned my main weblog, so yeah. Yay!)

Blah…it’s been a long week. Sleep now…I can’t wait till I can stay up past midnight again without collapsing.

I give up. 4 AM is too damn inaccessible, argh! 3 AM would be a bit better, and anything earlier would definitely be preferrable–but 4 and 5 AM are stretches. I don’t know if I’ll be watching Pirates of Dark Water on Cartoon Network any more as a result, and since we can’t tape it because of our cable box configuration or whatever…grah.

Eh. Missed “Victory” (early, early) this morning, but on purpose. If the basketball All-Star game weren’t on now, and if I didn’t have to work so early tomorrow morning (I get up before 6 daily and get home around 8:30 nightly during the week), I’d probably treat myself to a mini-marathon, or at least Dark Water episode 5. Rather, on TV–I could watch the movie file now, but it’s just not the same once you’ve started watching it on an actual TV again. (And I should shut up before those of you reading this who don’t have Cartoon Network start smacking me upside the head. ^^; )

I also realized that I totally owe several people e-mails that I’ve been putting off for, like, a month. My priorities have been totally off e-mail…I’ve got a ticket to a classical concert next week to sell (though I think I’ve just finally sold it), I’ve got 4 tests of varying difficulty/effort/focus in the space of the next 2 weeks (and 3 are in the same class!), I just restarted violin lessons, I have to get the tires on my car changed soon, I’m procrastinating on some crap at work that I have to work on tomorrow, and…blah. So yeah. I’ll reply several of you really really soon, I promise. (Like Josh, who mailed me back at the start of January thanking me for taking the time out to reply him. Agh, the irony abounds. ^^;; If you see this, I’m REALLY sorry…the start of January became very very hectic in a pretty bad/personal way, and then immediately morphed straight into returning to work and school. But enough of me making excuses now…)

One of my awesome friends just installed MovableType for me (I’ve tried at least 4 or 5 times–I got it working the first time, and then my server experienced scheduled downtime the next day and it refused to work when the server came back up…and since then I consistently screwed something up at the end and couldn’t figure out what), so when I get some time *snorts* I’m going to convert both my weblogs over to that most likely. Blogger’s been great, but I’m looking for something more powerful and self-contained, and am rather excited about getting to play around with MovableType. Yes, I’m a geek. After spending 2 years as a Computer Science major at Georgia Tech (and then switching, though a lot of my friends are still CS), I say it’s totally okay for me to get excited about computery stuff. ;o)

Oh, by the way, the broken image to the lower left is my SiteMeter web tracker. I have no idea why the image is broken, but the link’s still valid…so yeah. I’ll have to figure that out at some point.

(New update, as of Friday night. I’m stuck at work till 8 PM nightly, and it’s never busy Friday nights, so I made the best use of my time. O:o) )

So who else set their alarms for some ungodly hour and woke up to watch “The Quest” on Cartoon Network early this morning? My parents weren’t too happy about that–my dad is a light sleeper, and he woke up and noticed the light from the TV (especially since they use such bright and vivid imagery) and came down to have a look. ^^; Ah well, I certainly could’ve been doing worse things than watching PoDW at 4 AM, right? 😛

We’ve got a big-screen TV, and it’s been many years since I’ve watched PoDW on it–wow. Sooooo nice. It almost had the Lion King IMAX feel to it–with that, you could see the pencil lines, see how they subtly altered from cel to cel–and you could kind of see it on our TV, too. Not quite to that extent, but you definitely could see a lot more detail. It made it more interesting to watch.

And our VCR setup won’t let us tape them. :o( I’ll have to wait till “Victory” comes on and get my best friend to tape it for me starting from then (so I can have 4 episodes to a tape, without jumping around in the chronology between tapes–I’ve got some old un-subtitled VKLL Sailormoon SuperS tapes back from when I was a huge Sailormoon fan that have just been sitting there collecting dust, so I’m going to just tape over those).

Busy day ahead, better sign off now…
